Getting Involved

Want to make a difference in your local community by giving a helping hand to the homeless you run across in your everyday life? The Bible says:

Proverbs 19:17 “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord,
and he will reward them for what they have done.”

Well, you can make a difference! There are a number of ways to get involved in helping those in need in your very community.

Ways You Can Be Involved:

Here are some ways you can get involved with Blessing Bags OC of Orange County, CA, to help our ministry, and reach out to help the homeless in need:

  • You can donate to Blessing Bags OC. Every little bit helps.
  • You can request a number of Blessing Bags, at a suggested donation of $7 each. We are at Crossline Church each Sunday at 9 am, and at the Hospitality Table in front of the church from 1:30 – 1:00 am the third Sunday of each month. Ask for Paul or Marie at the Hospitality Table, and we will provide you with a Blessing Bag or two. Just email us at paul@paulmdooley.com and us know when you plan to come by, and we will have them ready for you!
  • You can contact us to work with us to promote the vision and mission of Blessing Bags OC to greater Orange County.
  • You can hand out Blessing Bags yourself when you come across a person in need. If you have acquired a few Blessing Bags, place them in the trunk of your car, or in the basket on your bike. And when you come across a homeless person is who is down and out, and in need, stop, and thoughtfully in love engage them, and offer them a Blessing Bag.
  • You can share a link to this web site with your friends through email, text, or social media, and spread the word about our work to help the homeless in OC

How to Engage and Deliver Your Blessing Bag:

  • Have a stock of Blessings Bags in your trunk, and be ready for opportunities to give your Blessing Bag to someone in need.
  • Your bags might be carried in a basket in the trunk of your car, or in a basket on your bike:
  • Make sure it’s really a homeless person in need, and not someone just dropped off to make a fast buck (scammers).
  • Take your time. Pull the car over and get out and talk if you can. Ask their name, their story. A hand-delivered care package, a few minutes of conversation, a smile, genuine eye contact, all this can go a long way towards showing someone that they are important, valued, and loved.
  • Ask to pray with them. Not everyone will say yes, and that’s ok. Respect their wishes, but if they say yes, pray for them and that they would be blessed. Also pray before and after you give the care package.
  • Be safe. Most homeless men and women are not dangerous. They are people just like anyone else. Still, it is wise to be in a group when handing out care packages, especially if you are going to stop and get out.

Let Us Know How Your Blessing Went:

Please email us and tell us how your interaction went, and share your story with us and others. You may also share your story on our Facebook page.
