According to the Orange County Register, “It was the longest night of the year. So cold your breath billowed like smoke from some fire-breathing dragon. Not a night to be stuck outside — but a night to remember those who were, those who took their last breaths without a place to call home.
“Infant Male Rubio” and “Infant Female Rubio,” no fixed abode, were the youngest of the 500 homeless people who perished in Orange County over the past year, according to coroner records. They were stillborn, three days before Halloween.
The oldest was 88. His name was Douglas Ewel Jones, and he died on May 8 of severe coronary artery disease.

The situation to many seems hopeless – but its not. Orange County, California is one of the richest areas of the country. We have the resources. If we all do our part to help, we can reach out and lend a helping hand, a word of encouragement, or provide some form of help to those in need – even if its a basic Blessing Bag of essential items.
